Give us 5 words that best describe you as an athlete:
cheerful, resilient, committed, hard-working, caring
Tell us about your best memory of your athletic career:
Even though it is not the highest level of competition I have experienced, I still remember with most fondness my performances at the South West Regionals in 2019. As a later developer, this was only my second regional level competition, but it was the weekend that everything fell into place for the first time. With PBs in the heats and further technical advancements in the finals across both my key events, I improved my times further, medaled and increased my national rankings significantly. Subsequently, for the first time I qualified for the 2019 British Summer Championships in both the 200m and 100m backstroke, which was an amazing experience for me as a progressing athlete.
Goals:
My ultimate long term goal is to have the opportunity to compete internationally and swim for my country. In striving for this, my ongoing goals embrace pushing myself as far as I can, gaining as much experience as possible and constantly improving my technical ability and aptitude to race.
Anything else we should know?
I am currently on the Swim England Level 3 Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) program, which will be completed in the Summer of 2022. In my spare time during Covid lockdown, I have also been working towards the Combined SEQ Level 1 and 2 Swimming Teaching qualification. I have passed all the theory sections and will complete the qualification once swimming lessons resume and the pool based evaluation can be finished. I have also been a volunteer swimming coach at my local swimming club for the last three years, something I initially started to support my Duke of Edinburgh Awards, but have continued as it has been a role that I have enjoyed in my spare time and has also given something back to the club where my swimming started.
