Tell us about your best memory of your athletic career:
When I played for Hamburg in the U16 State Championships we were playing against Bavaria, which is traditionally one of the strongest states for soccer, so we were the underdogs and expected to loose fairly high. However, I was determined not to let that happen. I played one of the best games of my life and had numerous saves. We lost the game 1-0 on a penalty but I was voted the best player of the match. On top of that, I broke a finger with about 20 minutes left, but stayed in the game until the end and had some more great saves to keep the game close. I was very proud of my performance that day and it is a game I still think about with great joy.
Anything else we should know?
I started playing soccer when I was four years old and officially joined a club when I was six. My mother had me try out every single position on the pitch because in her opinion being a goalie was too dangerous. So I did play as a forward for many years until I went back to being a goalie because I loved it so much and it was my true passion.
