Interview

Give us 5 words that best describe you as an athlete:

Motivated, consistent, eager, friendly, resilient.

Tell us about your best memory of your athletic career:

My best memory yet was from this year in the 2024 GB Olympic Trials. After a slow start to the season, I dropped almost two seconds from my LCM 100m Breaststroke in February, enabling me to qualify for the trials. I was seeded in the top 30, and as a result, found myself in a heat with Adam Peaty, my role model. Although my race didn’t go to plan, and I added significant time (perhaps due to nerves and lack of experience at such an event) it was an extremely enjoyable moment to share a call room and race with the WR holder!

Another of my best memories was from the 2024 British Summer Nationals, where I swam in a 4 by 100m Medley relay with my team. It was my first time racing in a relay at a national level, and despite being one of the only teams that weren’t representing a university, we qualified for the final. We swam incredibly well, including my 1:02.75 Long Course 100m breaststroke split, and were extremely proud to represent out local childhood team at such a high level whilst beating sports schools and universities.

Goals:

My goals are to continue to pursue an athletic and academic career at as high a level as possible, whilst enjoying the process abroad in a new team environment. I aim to reach the A final in the 100m Breaststroke at the 2028 GB Olympic trials, as well as represent Ireland at international competitions. I also aim to receive a respected degree from a top-level university in the US.
