Interview

Give us 5 words that best describe you as an athlete:

Committed, hardworking, competitive, passionate, determined.

Tell us about your best memory of your athletic career:

At the Irish Championships on day 1, after arriving at the marshalling area 20 mins ahead of my 200 back final event, I was told that they had mistakenly put the second reserve in the event in my place. They were not willing to pull that competitor out and even though a coach overheard what was happening and tried to intervene on my behalf, they upheld their decision and I wasn’t allowed to compete. I was distraught and felt I had nobody there to fight my corner. I spoke to my parents and for a split second I considered flying home but very quickly realised the best thing I could do is rally, go back the next day and medal in my other events. I got bronze in 100 fly the next day and knew then that I would never walk away and would never give up. There is always the next race!

Goals:

To compete in an Olympic or Commonwealth Games.

Anything else we should know?

I have a comprehensive swim training schedule in place including land training and power lifting.
