What is the International Swimming League?
After an amazing Olympic Games for many sports through the Summer, the excitement doesn’t end for Swimming. The International Swimming League for 2021 started on the 26th of August in Naples, Italy, and runs through all of September, November with the big Final taking place in January 2022.
The International Swimming League is a new and exciting event. Established in 2019, it includes a number of the best swimmers from around the world, including big names such as Caeleb Dressel, Sarah Sjöström, Duncan Scott and Lilly King. The League consists of 10 teams from America, Europe and Japan who collate points from each race, battling it out for the final win.
This event is an annual, professional competition with fast paced sessions, making it an exciting sporting environment for the teams and spectators. It’s not a competition you want to miss if you’re an aspiring College swimmer!
Interestingly, the ISL seems to have a very similar system as the American NCAA where swimming teams race to score the highest points for their team, hoping to win the championship title. If anything prepares you for the fast-paced racing of the International Swimming League, it’s definitely the American College System!
